SureWest Offers Camera Phones with Global Capabilities
Integrated communications provider SureWest (Nasdaq: SURW) has announced the immediate availability of camera phones and picture messaging that lets users send and receive color pictures from the screen of their wireless picture phone.
“What’s exciting about picture messaging is that it can be very creative and personalized. Customers can create a message combining photo, sound and text and easily communicate that message to any SureWest picture phone or to an email address anywhere in the world,” said Bob Burger, senior vice president and COO, SureWest Wireless. “You can even create a customized ring tone so you can hear a friend’s voice and see their picture when they call you”.
SureWest’s picture message offers a distinct advantage over the competition—as you would expect from SureWest, it’s an Unlimited Plan. With the purchase of a SureWest plan wireless plan, and for an additional $4.95 a month, customers can send and receive as many picture messages as they wish. And SureWest’s picture bundle includes basic voice mail, text messaging and unlimited picture messaging for $9.95 a month, with the purchase of a wireless plan.
SureWest is marketing the LG VX6000 as the company’s first camera phone. The LG-VX6000 was selected by Fortune Magazine in November 2003 as one of the most popular gifts for 2003. The phone retails at $149 with a $50 mail-in rebate offer that brings the cost of the phone to $99 after mail-in rebate.
