Interlink Networks Unveils First One-Click Wi-Fi Security for Small Business

Interlink Networks, a leading developer of network security and access control software, today announced LucidLink™ Wireless Security, the first 802.11 WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) solution expressly for small businesses, which delivers powerful, enterprise-level security with the ease of use of a consumer product.

Up until now, small businesses have had limited options for deploying secure Wi-Fi. The solutions available have been either too complex, expensive and hard to deploy and manage (VPNs, RADIUS servers), or they have offered inadequate security and flexibility (pre-shared keys).

“Unfortunately, small businesses have either chosen not to deploy Wi-Fi or they are putting their businesses at risk due to inadequate Wi-Fi security,” said Mike Klein, president and CEO of Interlink Networks. “LucidLink was designed from the ground up to meet all small business requirements. It allows them to set up truly secure Wi-Fi access in 15 minutes and provides a simple one-click method for new users to be registered and/or removed.”

“Most small businesses don’t have the luxury of a full-time dedicated IT staff or the budget to spend on expensive servers to maintain and secure their wireless networks,” says Michael Greeson, president and principal analyst for The Diffusion Group. “Having an inexpensive, secure and easy-to-use network management system is a must-have for small businesses looking to make the move to wireless networking, and that’s exactly what Interlink delivers.”

LucidLink Wireless Security’s patent-pending technology provides enterprise-level network security and access control – the same high security delivered by an 802.1x RADIUS authentication server – without the complex set-up. LucidLink protects the wireless network from hackers and unauthorized individuals, and simplifies the set-up of wireless access points by automatically selecting the correct options for each device. This eliminates the complicated choices that users normally encounter, which can result in inadequate security, or worse, no security at all. In fact, LucidLink Wireless Security is so easy to use that it can actually be set up with up to 70 percent fewer steps than a conventional Wi-Fi system having no security at all.

“With three locations in Hartland and Howell Michigan, we naturally gravitated toward a wireless solution that would allow our employees to move around and work from each location,” said Don Holland, VP product development, of Five Sparrows, a marketing and Web development company. “However, our initial hesitation with wireless technology was security. We tried using existing solutions, such as RADIUS and WEP, and found that the time and equipment requirements for mediocre security made the whole process a hassle. We are excited about LucidLink, which took minutes to implement, as opposed to days, and provides the impenetrable security we needed.”

Another key feature of LucidLink is its Administration Module, which allows non-technical personnel, such as office managers, to easily oversee user access to the wireless network. Non-IT personnel can control who accesses the network, allowing guest access to contractors, vendors, consultants, or visiting sales people, and setting the duration of their authorization with one click. Once wireless users are initially authorized for a chosen time period, no further action is necessary.

Additional benefits of the LucidLink Wireless Security solution include:

Rapid Deployment. One wireless user can be completely up and running within 15 minutes. This includes the server and client software installation, complete access point configuration, security configuration, and authorizing one user to the wireless network.
Enterprise-Level Security. Provides high-level user authentication equivalent to 802.1x EAP-TLS.
No Security Key Complexities. Eliminates manually entering user credentials, security certificates, and hexadecimal keys for WEP key management.
Automatic Access Point Configuration. Configures wireless access points and routers that are 802.1x/WPA-compatible, reducing the possibility of mistakes and compromising security.
LucidLink Wireless Security will be available starting June 25 for pricing starting at $449 for 10 users. For more information, call (734) 821-1200 or visit www.lucidlink.com.
