Pearl Auction Two vital global pearl auctions were held in association with the June Hong Kong Jewllery & Watch Fair from 21 to 25 June 2004 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. Paspaley Pearl Auction The 25th Paspaley South Sea Pearl Auction organised by Paspaley Pearling Co Pty Ltd was held from 21 to 23 June 2004 sold 80 percent of the 140,219 pearls on offer for a total of US$9.43 million. The pearls fetched an average price of US$84 a piece. A total of 63 companies of the 87 invited from around the world were successful in bidding, reflecting that demand was from all major markets. Robert Wan Tahiti Perles Auction The 19th Robert Wan Tahiti Perles Auction held on 24 to 25 June 2004 sold 78 percent of the 190,586 pearls on offer, bringing in total sales of roughly US$5 million from about 70 companies out of the 115 invited made purchases at the auction. The average price per piece sold at the auction was US$33, while the average price per momme was about US$50.
