YoMacha! is the newest Web 2.0 venture on net for specifically for Indian Audiences. It’s started by a young group of friends from Jaipur. Yes, Not a Pune, Bangalore or Mumbai!
YoMacha (www.yomacha.com) is not like the many social networking sites mushrooming everyday. It is India's very own RATING Portal.
Basically two ideas (a) Getting yourself rated and rating others (b) Creating your own RATING WAR where one can create a popularity/non-popularity poll between any two given topics that can be thought off.
Concept like this is not new to Web however first of its kind in India. Starting a Portal based on looks and rating has not been an easy task keeping in mind the Indian audience. As people especially girls are found reluctant to post their pictures online. However the developers of YoMacha have kept this in mind and taken considerable security and safety measures with regards to copying of pictures. Usage of Profane, abusive content is also strictly prohibited.
“The idea behind starting something like a Rating Portal was simple; we wanted to create something with which everybody is fixated, in day to day life. When a good looking person passes by we instantly notice it, we check ourselves in mirror 10 times a day. No matter how much we deny the superficiality of outer beauty, somewhere it’s always there at the back of our minds. As a portal we are not trying to make any judgment there, it’s just a concept and we want people to come and have some fun killing time on net. That’s it" says Ajit, the mind behind.
Apart from the Picture rating thing, the Rating wars are also gaining huge popularity. You can see who is the IPL favorite, or who is preferred between a cat or dog, who’s the favorite newcomer in bollywood, which is the worst website, Amir vs. Big B blog... and many more such interesting fights. People even create wars of their own two styles of looks.
The site has been launched just 2 months back, has already gained 600+ registrations and more then 3500 Page visits daily!
YoMacha aims at becoming a site where people can log in daily and find something interesting and fun everyday.
